“Building Sustainable Communities” Advice Clinic for Community Groups

Tipperary PPN invite all members to attend our next full member event (Plenary) on Thursday 8th November in Rosegreen Community Hall from 6.00pm to 9.30pm.

This event promises to be an exciting evening with Guest speakers, information on funding and advice on grant writing applications. There will also be great spot prizes on the night.

JP McManus Benevolent Fund Accepting Applications

The JP McManus Benevolent Fund has opened temporarily for applications.

The Fund aims to support local community initiatives and nonprofit organisations throughout the Mid-West of Ireland. Valued at €40 million, the Fund is managed as a sole entity, independent of any existing programmes sponsored by Mr McManus. 

Chaired by Sue Ann Foley, the new entity is operated by a select Committee Group working to enhance the quality of life in local communities.

The key focus areas will be on:

  • Education Development
  • Healthcare Development 
  • Community Development
  • Local Infrastructural Development.

The Arts Council – Festivals Investment Scheme

The Festival Investment scheme is open to multi-disciplinary festivals and single artform festivals or for linked events programmed over a number of months in a calendar year.

The Arts Council announces round two of the Festivals Investment Scheme (FIS) for festivals taking place July–December 2019. See link for more information:

Please note this is the National Arts Council Festival & Events Scheme.
The TIPPERARY FESTIVALS & EVENTS SCHEME closing date will be announced in the coming weeks with a closing date in late November/early December (tbc).

This is for festivals taking place in Tipperary in 2019 and applications will be made to Tipperary County Council.

Our goal is to provide critical support to projects and services focused on reducing inequalities and improving childhood and lifelong outcomes.

Festival Innovation Programme

Fáilte Ireland has identified that an opportunity exists for festivals and events to play a more significant role in driving Ireland’s tourism performance. 

This programme has been designed to identify proposals for ambitious and unique festivals and events which will stand out internationally. 

Applicants can download a copy of the Festival Innovation Programme Guidelines which outline the purpose of the programme and what we are looking for in a festival. Applicants should read the Guidelines carefully before making an application.

The call for applications opens on Friday 28 September 2018. The cut off for the first round of evaluations will be at 5pm on Friday 19 October 2018.

Proposals must be submitted through the Fáilte Ireland Trade Portal.

Superhomes 2019 Information Event

Tipperary energy agency are holding free information events for Tipperary homeowners to hear about how they can avail of up to 50% grant funding to carry out energy efficient upgrades on their home through our SuperHomes project. We are getting lots of interest from homes all over the country but would love to get more Tipperary homes on board. Would you be able to share this also?

Tipperary Energy Agency Biomass Tour to Austria

Tipperary Energy Agency are running a  training seminar tour to Linz, Austria on the first week of December for Tipperary companies working in the biomass sector.

There are six places available on the tour. Those interested in a place should to answer the following questions and send their answers to orla@tippenergy.ie

  • What is your current interest in the Biomass Supply Chain?
  • How do you think you would benefit from attending the trip?

 

The cost of the trip is €495 which includes flights, hotel, transfers in Austria plus the cost of the seminar and materials. The cost may vary slightly depending on the cost of flights.

Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Training

Tipperary Sports Partnership is facilitating a Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Basic Awareness training. The course is aimed at sports leaders, children’s officers, parents or anyone working with young people in sport. A central goal for all those involved in sport for young people is to provide a safe, positive and nurturing environment where children can develop and enhance their physical and social skills. Promoting a child-centred environment should go hand in hand with identifying and eliminating practices that impact negatively on safe and enjoyable participation in sport for young people.

 

The next series workshops will be delivered by Sport Ireland tutors on:

   

  • Monday  15th October  2018 in  LIT( Clonmel Campus) 6pm- 9pm
  • Monday  22nd  October 2018 in the  Rackethall  Hotel, Roscrea 6pm-9pm 
  • Thursday  8th November 2018 in  LIT( Clonmel Campus) 6pm- 9pm

                                       

The training will enable Children’s Officers/Sports Leaders to:

  • Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants
  • Create a child-centred environment within the sports club
  • List categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse
  • Make an appropriate response to a disclosure
  • Make a report to designated officer or appropriate Statutory Authorities

2018 BiodivERsA Joint Transnational Call Now Open

The BiodivERsA 2018-2019 transnational call for research proposals on Biodiversity and its influence on animal, human and plant health is now open.

The call, which launched on the 1st October 2018, aims at supporting transnational research projects jointly addressing issues at the nexus of biodiversity and animal, human and/or plant health across the different relevant spatial, and temporal scales in an effort to support evidence-based decision-making.

Projects addressing only biodiversity issues or only health issues will not be considered within the scope of the call.

 

Important dates:

Deadline for submission of pre-proposals (mandatory): 16th November 2018, 16:00 CET (local time in Brussels)

The Fulbright Awards 2019-2020 Applications Are Now Open

The Fulbright Commission and the Environmental Protection Agency are offering a unique opportunity for an Irish postgraduate student or scholar in the field to travel to the U.S. to study or research in the areas of water, climate, and sustainability.

Making Successful Funding Applications

Is your organisation/group considering applying for funding in the future? Are you trying to catch the eye of the grant reviewer? Grant Writing is an extremely competitive business. In order to maximize the chance to secure funding, community groups should understand the elements of the funding application process.

 

After the workshop you will be better prepared to:

 

Understand the process. “Building a relationship with the funder”.
Essential Components. “Looking at the structure of a grant and identifying the critical information required”.
Construct an eye-catching and meaningful grant application. “Getting to grips with the creative process of a grant application increases chances for success”.
Before you press “send”. “Actions required before you submit. The pitfalls and how to avoid them”.
Submitting a Grant. What you need to hand! “The planning, preparation and availability of supporting documentation. It is too late looking for such information when you have an hour to go to the grant deadline!

PPN Members from South Tipperary working with community, voluntary and charitable groups and organisations including social enterprises, social inclusion groups and environmental groups.

John Warren, JE Warren Consulting, has significant experience in writing grant applications to government entities, corporations, foundations and other funding bodies through his 10-year tenure as CEO of children’s foundation and in recent years, working with a variety of community, voluntary and charity groups in different parts of the country. He has knowledge that will help you to improve your grant writing skills, irrespective of the level of funding being sought.

John is also actively involved in his community. He is chairman of his residents association; past board member of a leading children’s charity in the southeast; volunteer with Waterford Rotary Club Annual Christmas Tree Appeal and a member of Ballygunner GAA Club.
